My Birth and Pregnancy Journey

I have had the blessing of birthing three beautiful, healthy, strong babies.

Miscarriage, medically induced labor, abortion, unmedicated home birth, unmedicated hospital birth, breastfeeding, bottle feeding, lip ties, pumping, low birth weight, geriatric pregnancies are all a part of my journey.

Motherhood has taught me how important it is to support life givers as they navigate the new dynamic a child can create in the family.

Uninformed Induction

My first child was induced at the hospital.

At the time, I had an extremely limited understanding of my options when it came to my birth.

At nearly 42 weeks, I walked into the hospital and was informed that I wasn't leaving until I delivered our baby. My heart sank.

I hadn't taken any childbirth classes and was completely uninformed about my choices when it came to interventions. I ended up receiving Pitocin, which brought on the contractions with a force. That led to an epidural, which then led to my introduction to motherhood 💜

Home Water Birth

When I was around 20 weeks pregnant with my middle child, I learned about home births. I found a Home Birth Collective in San Jose and connected with my midwife. Even though I encountered placenta previa throughout the last 10ish weeks of my pregnancy, thankfully it cleared up at 39 weeks and I was able to give birth to her at home in the water tub. She joined us around 42 weeks! Healthy, strong and full of stories.

Informed Induction

My third birth was unmedicated in the hospital. We had planned for another home birth, but Spirit had other plans. My blood pressure was too high at the end to feel safe about waiting for him to come on his own. I waited as long as I could, but by 41 weeks the hospital felt the best route to take.

It turned out to be a way to heal the trauma I was holding on to from my first birth. I felt informed and empowered to decide what was best for our family and birth.
